Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the national highway between Vadodara and Mumbai will be converted into a six-lane highway at a total cost of Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion).
"The conversion of the national highway between Vadodara and Mumbai to six lanes from the present four lanes will benefit the industries and farmers," Modi said after laying down the foundation stone of construction of Vadodara-Padra-Jambusar road at a total cost of Rs 62 crore (Rs 620 million) at Padra town about 11 km from Vadodara.
He informed that the Centre has accepted the proposal of Gujarat government for undertaking feasibility study of laying of third rail track between Mumbai and Ahmedabad for running bullet trains which will help in cutting the time taken for travelling between two cities to two-and-half hours.
As part of providing pipeline gas supply to the households in the state for domestic purpose, pipelines are being laid and work on 1800 km pipe lines was already complete, Modi said.
He said that it is decided to set up CNG stations at various points on National Highway passing through state for providing cheap fuel to the vehicle.
For providing drinking water to the people in several parts of the state, the government has decided to use the water of Damanganga river which will be taken to Chorwad in Saurashtra through network.
