October 07, 2005 00:48 IST

A court in Peddapalli in Karimnagar district on Thursday issued summons to the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited Mukhesh Ambani and two others on alleged charge of cheating.

As per the complaint filed by one Ratanlal of Peddapalli, Reliance Petroleum had issued notification for allotment of petrol bunk at Peddapalli, for which the complainant had applied.

The complainant stated that Reliance group has consented to allot a petrol bunk to him at Peddapalli and for this purpose he even accepted to give his land for market price.

The complainant further said that he was called for an interview by the Reliance group and that they also took an advance of Rs 5,000 from him.

Even after lapse of two years, the company failed to allot a petrol bunk and on the other hand opened its own petrol bunk at Peddapalli and thereby cheated him.

Taking cognisance of the complaint under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code(cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Peddapalli issued summons to Ambani, Rajiv Bhandari and Paarthivan directing them to appear before him on December 5.

The spokesman for Reliance Industries was not immediately available for comments.
