India is the highest recipient of remittance from abroad with $27 billion being sent to the country during 2007, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi in reply to a question said India's remittance from abroad is $27 billion which is the highest in the world.
The minister said Gulf-based workers, including semi-skilled and unskilled workers, are the largest contributors who send 40 per cent of the amount.
