World Phone, Rediff in strategic deal

Internet Service Provider World Phone Internet Services Pvt Ltd on Tuesday announced a strategic alliance with online portal Rediff.com for distribution of its Voice over Internet Protocol calling cards, World Phone Premium.

"Our association with Rediff will enable us to reach out to customers in far-flung areas and offer them quality international calling experience," World Phone chairman Aditya Ahluwalia said in a release in Mumbai.

Under the deal, Rediff would sell World Phone's calling cards through its site, with options to customer including pay cash on delivery or by credit card, it said. Delivery and handling charges would be borne by World Phone, it said.

The company is also in talks with major distributors and retail chains in different states to expand its physical reach to end-users, it added. "We are ramping up our distribution network around the country," Ahluwalia said.
