Red Hat India, the open source solutions provider on Wednesday said it expected to grow 150 per cent this year in line with its last two years' growth, on the back of high demand from the Government, educational institutions and SMEs.

"We have grown at 150 per cent year-on-year over the last two years and expect to grow at the same rate this year. We have strong demand lined from PSUs, banks, government, educational institutions and SMEs," Javed Tapia, director, Red Hat India said.

Linux desktops, the open source based software on which Red Hat is based already had a marketshare of 8-10 per cent in the 18 months of its launch in India, Tapia claimed.

Out of that figure, Red Hat Linux desktops have a marketshare of 5-6 per cent, he said.

Red Hat opened its fourth global centre in New Delhi on Wednesday. The centre has a test laboratory for hardware and software certification.

The global engineering and support centre would address support requirements of the growing customer base in the country.

The company is working with various state governments, including those of West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
