This is likely to be one of the most ambitious public projects in the world.

The Jharkhand government is considering a proposal submitted by Chennai-based Creative Infrastructure to create a navigation channel from East Singhbhum to the mouth of the Subarnarekha River in Orissa.

The Chennai-based company submitted its concept paper to the Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda recently.

The proposal stated that construction of a port at Subarnarekha mouth was feasible and the project could be taken up on BOT basis.

Official sources said that Creative Infrastructure was in the business of development of ports, railways and road connectivity in the country. The company wanted to sign an agreement with the Jharkhand government for the project.

Industry sources pointed out that if the project was executed, the upcoming industries in Jharkhand will be greatly benefited.

It will become much easier for factories in the hilly state of Jharkhand to ferry raw materials and finished products.
