Ram Gopal to direct Percept's foreign movie

October 22, 2005 16:42 IST

Percept Picture Company has entered into an agreement with film director Ram Gopal Varma to direct its second international production titled 'Within'. Varma will be making his international directorial debut with this project.

In the budget pegged at Rs 27 crore ($6million), Varma will have a 15 per cent stake apart from his directorial fee.

'Within' will have an all international star cast. In August this year, PPC had announced its first international venture titled 'Tree of Life' starring Collin Farrel and directed by Terrence Mallick in collaboration with Sahara One Motion Pictures.

"We have identified universality of Indian cinema and its extensions. Our vision combined with our high value network gives us an edge in recognising opportunities and exporting resources globally within the entertainment space," said Shailendra Singh, joint managing director, Percept Holdings.

"I am sure these ventures spearheaded by Percept will result in a highly rewarding experience for all concerned," said Varma.

The other film that Ram Gopal Varma and PPC will be working on together is Varma's long delayed international project 'Ek', its cost estimated at Rs 90 crore ($20 million).
