Passengers of the Rajdhani Express trains can now enjoy facilities like Internet with the Railways roping in private players for offering such amenities in return of advertisement space.

"We have allotted to private players the advertising space in Rajdhani trains in return of providing passengers world class facilities," said Gitanjali, PRO, Delhi Division, Northern Railways.

The first train -- Bangalore Rajdhani -- under this scheme was flagged off on Tuesday from New Delhi, she said, adding mobile network provider Airtel has been given advertisement space on the train.

"The contract to advertise on a particular train will be for one year and Railways will charge Rs 25 lakh per month from the interested party," she said. 'Vinyl Wrapping' technique has been used to paint the outer spaces of the coaches for the advertisements, she said.

Besides paying the fixed amount, the private players will also provide passengers world class maintenance, cleanliness, and upgraded facilities like Internet and green toilets, Gitanjali said.

Two other Rajdhanis -- Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram -- have also been selected for the purpose, she said.
