Over 14 lakh (1.4 million) Indian Railways employees may proceed on indefinite strike in the last week of February next to press for their 10 demands, including the formation of Sixth Pay Commission.
Talking to the media in Allahabad on Monday, North Central Railway Employees Sangh general secretary R P Singh claimed they had made all efforts for the settlement of demands with the government and there was no chance left for further any negotiations.
"The only alternative before the railway employees is to proceed on indefinite strike," he asserted, adding that the Indian Railways employees unions would serve the strike notice to the government on January 16 next.
He said that the Sangh at its executive committee meeting in Mathura on December 29 had unanimously resolved to go on indefinite strike.
