Come next festive season, you could most probably pick up your favourite greeting card from a neighbourhood post office and send them to near and dear, then and there.

With formalities for a tie-up between the department of posts and Archies Greetings and Gifts Ltd progressing well, from next Friendship Day, falling on August 7, the facility could be introduced in post offices in Tamil Nadu, including those in rural areas, R Shankar, southern regional manager, Archies, told PTI.

"Once found successful, this could be replicated in other states,"

he said.

The postal department is already into the retailing of Public Service Commission application forms and pre-paid cards of various service providers.

DoP sources said they have recently sent a letter expressing willingness to sell the company's greeting cards through post offices.

"Greeting cards will be purchased in bulk during the season and retailed through post offices/speed post centres," says the letter.

Once the deal was finalised, his company would set up the infrastructure in post offices for the sales by August, Shankar said.
