The ongoing socio-economic survey for the Posco's mega steel plant near Paradip in Orissa was disrupted at Patana village under Dhinkia panchayat on Saturday due to non-cooperation of the villagers.
The villagers, prompted by anti-Posco brigade, opposed the household survey in the village stating that the scope of the survey should only include the government land and not the private land.
They said, as the chief minister has already announced that Posco should leave out 300 acres of private land in Dhinkia panchayat, there is no need for going for the survey of private property in the village.
Following the opposition of the villagers, the survey teams had to return empty handed from Patana village.
It may be noted, the survey in Dhinkia panchayat, which was stalled for a long time due to stiff opposition by Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti, an anti-project outfit, had been taken up following the talks between chief minister Naveen Patnaik and PPSS leaders where the latter agreed to cooperate in the survey if it was conducted without the presence of police force.
