T K A Nair may become principal secretary in PMO

Public Sector Enterprises Board Chairman T K A Nair is tipped to become the Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office. He was earlier principal secretary in the PMO when I K Gujral was India's Prime Minister during 1997-98. 
 
Nair was appointed the PESB chairman shortly before the fall of the Gujral government. 
 
He has been holding on to the post since July 1999. He retired from the Indian Administrative Service in 1997. Prior to that, he was secretary, ministry of environment and forests in 1996-97 and special secretary, Planning Commission in 1995. 
 
He was also the chief secretary to the Government of Punjab in 1995-96. 
 
The

National Democratic Alliance government had earlier offered to make him the Central Vigilance Commissioner but later appointed N Vittal as the CVC. 
 
When contacted, Nair said, he was unaware of any such development.
