Europe reigns supreme among the world’s most innovative nations with Switzerland topping the charts.
India scores a dismal 81st rank in the 2015 Innovation Index, way behind countries such as Brazil, China and South Africa.
However, India remains at the top of the regional ranking of Central and Southern Asia this year, followed by Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka, which has significantly improved its position.
The Global Innovation Index 2015, published by Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation is calculated on the basis of how a country fares on seven key parameters - institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs and creative outputs.
China, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Jordan, Kenya, and Uganda are among a group of countries outperforming their economic peers.
