Renault Kwid is taking things one step further with the French automaker offering a product that is high on value and style.
The automobile industry has often witnessed great revolutions and one of the biggest ones was the arrival of the Maruti 800.
The small car arrived in the Indian market three decades ago, at a time when vehicles like Ambassadors existed and ruled the roads with their bulbous and heavy structures.
Maruti 800 was smaller in size compared to the big names with its light weight and lesser cost allowing it to become the popular choice among the mass audience.
With a displacement of barely 800cc, the small hatchback zipped past the likes of Ambys and Fiat along with generating a higher mileage in the process.
We all anticipated Tata Nano to generate the same kind of commotion but it did not manage to live up to the promise. However, Renault Kwid is certainly half-way there and we have not even entered the phase where deliveries or test drives of the vehicle are available.
Tata Nano probably marketed the vehicle in a wrong manner using the word Rs1 lakh too many times, which portrayed the vehicle as a cheap product rather than highlighting its utility.
Even with being the cheapest car to provide AMT facility, Tata Nano is not able to come out of the image it garnered in its initial phase.
Maruti 800, however, was never portrayed as the cheapest car but rather the most valuable car with the company highlighting all its practical features as assets.
On the other hand, Renault Kwid is taking things one step further with the French automaker offering a product that is high on value and style.
In fact, the company is already responsible for the boom of the compact SUV segment although, it did not manage to keep their reign intact. Renault Kwid also seems like a combination of Dacia Duster and Renault Captur.
The prospect sounds exciting and is a reality. Further, all this is being offered at a price less than that of Maruti 800.
What is brilliant about this move is that the love for compact SUVs among the Indian audience is at its peak and that is exactly what Renault is banking on and ready to cash in.
What separates Renault Kwid from the rest of the audience is its large size that towers over the rest of the competitors in the same segment along with its stylish aesthetics that is yet to be matched.
Moreover, the flamboyant set of features that the vehicle offers, makes the success of the car inevitable with an never-ending set of accessories.
As an overall package, Renault Kwid will definitely be the first choice for buyers and the opinion is going to be the same whether you are a first time buyer or a seasoned campaigner.
Some of the features that Renault Kwid will offer include the 7 inch MediaNav touchscreen unit that we saw with Renault Duster.
There is an ample amount of boot space as well with 300 litre capacity which is only short of Honda Jazz while beating the likes of Elite i20, Polo, Figo, Punto etc.
With an airbag system for the driver, you pretty much get everything that you need from a car at Rs 3.53 lakhs.
With almost all the contemporary features loaded in a small package, one would hardly reject this offering until and unless there is a new player in the market.
