Austrian electronic manufacturer Tel.Me. announced the launch of two high-end smart phones in India on Friday.
The company said it is also scouting for partnerships with software vendors in the country for Java and Bluetooth capabilities.
The two phones -- t918 and t919i -- would, however, be out of reach for the masses as they come with a price tag of Rs 25,999 and Rs 30,999, respectively.
T919i is the first multi-utility business smart phone along with many entertainment features which has a built-in camera, MP3 player, handwriting, e-mail client and personal organiser, Manfred Jahn, founder and CEO, Tel.Me., said.
The company is targetting a marketshare of 20 per cent in the smart phones segment in 2004 and in terms units, it aims to sell 1,00,000-1,50,000 units, Jahn said.
In the smart phone category, Tel.Me. would be competing with Sony Ericsson's high-end phone models.
India would be used a base to enter other neighbouring markets like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, he said.Tel.Me. has appointed Agrani Convergence as its national distributor and service provider.
