Gas Authority of India Ltd on Monday said strong winds of over 40 knots caused an accident at Petronet LNG Ltd's R-LNG terminal at Dahej, when the tug boats of LNG carrier 'Disha' hit the dolphin piles of the jetty on September 17.
The LNG ship was casting off after unloading the cargo, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
PLL, after evaluating the extent of damage and working out immediate counter measures, has approached BNI, Netherlands and TTI, UK, designers for executing repair works, it said.
Gail India Ltd, main marketer and transporter of R-LNG from Dahej, has taken steps to evacuate gas from Hazira LNG Terminal of Shell, besides drawing up contingency plan to maintain supply of natural gas to its customers using the available stock of LNG at Dahej terminal.
The company has further requested ONGC and PMT JV to augment their supplies so that the impact of the shortage of supply on customers caused by the accident gets reduced, it added.
