Peerless enters 75th year

The Peerless General Finance & Investment Company Limited, one of India's premier registered residuary non-banking company, has entered its 75th year.

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee inaugurated the company's year-long platinum jubilee celebrations on Wednesday. Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was the chief guest at the function. Chatterjee released a book,Circle of Life, on the occasion.

The function was attended by a galaxy of distinguished personalities and eminent celebrities from diverse spheres.

D Basu, chairman of the company, in his welcome speech stressed on the characteristics of Peerless as a leading institution that has stood the test of time.

S K Roy, managing director of the company, spoke about the institution's impeccable track-record, trust and confidence of 45 million customers, excellent service, vast distribution network, seamless IT connectivity, pan-Indian presence, and tailor-made product range.

He also announced many welfare projects to be taken up by the company for the betterment of the society, including scholarships for meritorious students of weaker / minority section in West Bengal, to help them pursue higher education.
