Pearson to invest $30 mn in India

Global publishing firm Pearson said on Wednesday it will invest $30 million (about Rs 145 crore) in the country by acquiring stake in Educomp Solutions and in a Bangalore-based firm.

"Fifty per cent stake in Educomp Solutions and 17.2 per cent stake in TutorVista for a total sum of $30 million," Pearson India deputy chairman Khozem Merchant told reporters in New Delhi.

Pearson owns various businesses, including the Financial Times Group, Pearson Education and the Penguin Group.

Educomp is an education services provider, while Bangalore-based TutorVista is an online tutoring company.
