Around 100 leading corporates from Pakistan will arrive in New Delhi on July 7 as part of a business delegation to discuss the macro level trade issues.
The delegation would be led by senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, the president of India-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and co-led by the president of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Riaz Ahmed Tata, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry sources said in New Delhi on Tuesday.
During its two-day visit, the delegation would discuss the trade issues, including unofficial trade and infrastructure problems.
While looking into the reasons for the low volumes of trade, the delegation will make recommendations to the governments for creating a conducive policy environment to promote trade.
The third meeting of the India-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, formed jointly by FICCI and FPCCI in 1999 following Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's historic bus ride to Lahore, would try to shore up the volume of trade between the two countries, which is less than one per cent of their global trade.
Besides the one-to-one business meetings, a catalogue and brochure show would be held, as it would not be able to showcase products due to the space constraints, sources said.
The government has already issued business visas to the delegates who would also visit Ajmer, Agra and Mumbai.
