Global software major Oracle Corporation has completed the acquisition of PeopleSoft development centres, operated by Covansys Corporation and Hexaware Technologies Ltd, which will add over 1,000 professionals to Oracle's applications segment.

The 1,000-plus engineering and technical experts who have already been engaged in PeopleSoft and JD Edwards product development and consulting are now employees of Oracle. These employees will continue to be based in Bangalore, a company statement said.

Oracle had exercised purchase options to acquire these centres in May 2005. "Covansys and Hexaware built and operated world class development centres and we look forward to continued relationships with them," said Murali Subramanian, vice president of applications development at Oracle India Development Centre.

Oracle senior vice president of application development John Wookey said, "The addition of more than 1,000 PeopleSoft and JD Edwards development experts to Oracle's applications organisation will enable us to continue to deliver on our commitment to protect, evolve and extend our customers investments."
