Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced that it would provide 1 Mbps speed broadband at Rs 1,699 a month, and 512 Kbps speed at Rs 1,099. Data transfer limit in both cases in unlimited.
The telecom provider also offered additional free value-added service bundles worth up to Rs 500 every month, said a statement from the company.
This offers Airtel broadband customers across the country greater access to 'true and rich' broadband: for example customers currently experiencing 512 Kbps can double their broadband speed to 1 Mbps by paying an additional Rs 100, the statement added.
K Srinivas, joint president-telemedia services, Bharti Airtel, said in the statement that this is 'another first in the industry: offering more customers access to a true and rich broadband experience at an affordable price.'

Airtel provides broadband (DSL) and telephone services (fixed line) in 95 cities and had 2,827,881 customers as on June 31, 2009 of which 40.3% were subscribing to broadband/Internet services, the statement added.
