Durable retailers line up slew of festive offers

Durable retailers have lined up a series of offers to lure customers during Christmas and New Year's eve. While big retail chains such as Spencer's and Big Bazaar have announced a shopping bonanza, independent retailers have also lined up discount offers for the festive season.

J H Mehta, president, Spencer's, said, "Diwali is related with garments, while electronic appliances are in demand during the New Year."

Following their success with the sabse sasta offer scheme, the Future group has announced Electronics Dhoom at Electronics Bazaar stores in all the Big Bazaars.

"The company is trying to create a purchase opportunity and build a proposition amongst the consumers so that they look forward to the year-end sales", said Manoj Kumar, head - consumer durables and electronic goods, Home Solutions Retail.

The company has announced discounts, zero per cent EMIs and exchange offers at electronic bazaars across 39 Big Bazaars from 22 -31 December. Customers for instance, can buy gadgets like handycams on the monthly EMI of Rs 600 for 15 months.

Godrej and Boyce is also offering incentives on multiple product purchases at their Lifespace retail stores.

"Demand for home furnishing is significant during the New Year. We expect 50 per cent jump in sales," said Shyam Motwani, vice-president and business head of Godrej and Boyce's retail division.

The offers range from price-offs to freebies like complimentary DVDs on selected LCD and Plasma TVs are a few of the goodies that retailers are offering this season. Similarly exchange offers on ovens and colour televisions are also part of the offerings.

"Audio video products move well during this period as Christmas and New year is associated with fun and parties. We are offering discounts in the middle and higher segment products across all the categories", said a Mumbai-based retailer.

The Mumbai-based durables retail chain, Vijay Sales has planned a week long feast called Good Bye Festival.
