NYSE director McCall quits

September 26, 2003 11:41 IST

New York Stock Exchange lead director H Carl McCall has resigned as a board member of the bourse on Thursday. The resignation will take effect from September 30.

He is the first director to quit the exchange since NYSE chief executive officer Dick Grasso resigned on September 17 following the uproar over his huge $139.5-million pay package.

McCall sent his resignation letter to interim NYSE chairman John Reed, McCall saying that the world's richest exchange will go ahead with its duties without the events of the past affecting its activities.
