Nutek India to up headcount, eyes S Africa, Gulf

Nutek India, a telecom infrastructure solutions provider, plans to amp up its employee headcount in the country to around 1,500 from 1,000 staff.

The company, which plans to set up a tower manufacturing facility in India, is also looking at offering its services in South Africa and the Gulf.

"We are planning to ramp up our employee count to around 1,500, as there is an expected increase in business from the country. Moreover, with huge investments expected in telephony infrastructure by the private players, this sector is expected to post huge growth," Nutek India Managing Director Inder Sharma told Business Standard in Mumbai on Thursday.

By 2010, it is estimated that nearly Rs 9,88,00 crore (Rs 988 billion) will be invested by telecom service providers for expansion and upgradation of networks, and as the company specialises in these sectors, Nutek stands to benefit from the proposed investments, he said.

The company is expecting an increase in erection of towers, installation of routers and switches and other telephony equipment.

Nutek also plans to set up an tower manufacturing facility with an investment of around Rs 15 to 18 crore (Rs 150 million to Rs 180 million).

The company has shortlisted two locales, one in Uttaranchal and another in Jammu and Kashmir, for the tower facility.

"A final decision is yet to be taken, and it would be taken in a shortwhile," he said.

It was been working with all the telecom service providers in the country.

At present, it provides services like fixed network, GSM engineering, operation and maintenance services, among others.
