The initiative will generate revenue to the tune of $3 million, Arvind Thakur, CEO, NIIT Tech, said.

Calling India the fastest growing market in the Asia-Pacific, Thakur said: "Our proven track record in enabling government bodies to be more efficient and effective will help both the organisations ride the wave the growth."

"We would be looking at upgrading citizen portals and various HR and housing applications," Thakur said.

"We have a strength of 2,873 and we will be hiring more. "NIIT is also planning to add 200 people every quarter," Thakur said.

NIIT has several projects in the e-governance, defence and public sectors, which include assignments for the department of space, National Informatics Centre, Reliance Infocomm, etc.

"Governments in India are increasingly taking advantage of tech to increase efficiency of operations. We would focus on this to build a strong momentum in India," he said.
