Network security concern high in India: IDC

May 22, 2003 21:48 IST

Network security has emerged as a major technology concern amongst corporates in India besides other factors like costs, network management and lack of technical knowledge.

In comparison, in Singapore, cost is the main technology concern followed by network security and bandwidth.

Concerns relating to network management and lack of technical knowledge are relatively lower in Singapore, as per the International Data Corporation study.

Revealing the findings of the study at a workshop on network security, Avinash Purwar, business development manager of Cisco Systems India, said: "Network security breaches could result in loss of business, fall in productivity, additional expenses and legal liabilities."

He said Cisco offered network security solutions including routing and switching infrastructure, security specialised appliances, security management software and consulting and educational services.
