Prospects of an international airport and special economic zone have already started attracting lifestyle and leisure spots in Navi Mumbai -- a satellite town in neighbouring Thane district -- with the first five star hotel becoming operational there this month.
Park Hotels, promoted by Apeejay Surrendra Hotels, has launched the first boutique hotel 'The Park' in Navi Mumbai's CBD Belapur, a thriving business district and a IT-manufacturing hub.
The Rs 32 crore (Rs 320 million) property -- the sixth boutique hotel of the group -- became operational on February 1 and is just 40 minutes drive from the domestic airport here and 10 minutes' walk from Belapur railway station.
"Proximity to Thane-Belapur industrial belt, one of the largest of its kind in Asia, will certainly provide our guests with easy access to Navi Mumbai business districts," Apeejay Surrendra Hotels' Chairperson Priya Paul said.
The hotel's General Manager Abhijit Bose said, "the hotel is aimed at the business travellers looking for a calm and rejuvenating experience. We bring a completley new experience to Navi Mumbai and to the entire region."
The 80 rooms comprise of 10 studio singles, 41 deluxe hill and pool view room, 14 studio and one presidential suite -- all of which boast of a plasma TV, a microwave oven and facility to prepare small meal.
The hotel has been designed in conjunction with Project Orange, UK and also has rooms specially designed for the physically handicapped.
The company will also open a 280-room hotel in Hyderabad in 2008, company officials said.
Apeejay Surrendra Hotels operates luxury boutique hotels in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Visakhapatnam.
