Som Mittal to takeover as Nasscom chief

Som Mittal was appointed on Wednesday the president of National Association of Software and Services Companies.

Mittal, who is the head of services business of Hewlett Packard for Asia Pacific and Japan, will succeed Karin Karnik and will assume office from January 2008.

"The Indian
IT and ITeS sector has established its position in the global landscape. I look forward to leading Nasscom in these int interesting times," Mittal said.

Nasscom Chairman Lakshmi Narayanan said Mittal's extensive experience in the IT industry will be of great value to the sector.
