PM to address Nasscom summit

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will deliver the valedictory address on February 9 at the NasscomĀ  (National Association of Software and Service Companies) India Leadership Forum in Mumbai, where a host of IT industry stalwarts, academicians and other professionals would be participating.

Singh will also felicitate the seven finalists of Nasscom 'Innovation in IT Awards 2006' for their outstanding contribution to the IT industry, a Nasscom release in Delhi said.

Union IT and Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran will inaugurate the three-day event.

The finalists of these awards are Bharti Airtel and IBM India, Evaluserve.com, HP Labs India, Ittiam Systems Pvt Ltd, Kale Consultants, Strand Life Sciences Pvt Ltd and Monsoon Multimedia India.

Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said these awards have become a platform for companies to showcase their pioneering work in innovation.

Nasscom, the premier trade body of the software industry, has said the key focus areas of the summit are--Globalisation, Innovation and Leadership --- for the upcoming fifteenth annual Nasscom India Leadership Forum to be held from Wednesday.

India's software services and BPO exports are expected to touch $32 billion this fiscal and by 2010 it could cross $60 billion, according to Nasscom projections.

The global conclave will see -- thought leaders, CEOs, CIOs, authors, analysts and consultants along with government functionaries from a cross-section of industries converge to discuss and deliberate on a broad spectrum of issues related to leadership, globalisation, innovation and manpower resource development, which will play an instrumental role in extending India's edge in global markets.

This gathering of leaders will also see a number of Fortune 500 companies, which have a strong presence in India and customers of Indian IT companies.

India's rise to prominence, as a leader within the IT-ITES domain, has ensured that the country remains on the radar of international ICT companies, customer organisations, analysts, business intelligence firms and the venture capital community, Nasscom had said.
