National Association of Software and Service Companies chairman Kiran Karnik has said the Maharashtra government was not promoting information technology in a big way.
Addressing members of Software Exporters Association of Pune Friday night, he blamed politicians for the erosion of the IT sector.
The Government of Maharashtra had not done enough, he said, adding that governments of Andhra Paradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala had made more significant contributions.
He said there was a need to make a policy-shift from the existing cost-based model to the value-based model.
He urged SEAP and other business organistions to lobby for better infrastructure including better power distribution, transport and lowering of civic taxes to make Pune an important IT destination.
