Narayana Murthy on board of Asia Business Council

Infosys chairman NR Narayana Murthy has been appointed to the board of trustees of Asia Business Council, a non-profit consortium of 43 CEO-level business leaders, mainly from Asia.

"The addition of N R Narayana Murthy to our board reflects the respect we have for him as a business leader but also the importance of India as a crucial player in our region," the Council said in a statement.

Commenting on his appointment, Murthy said, "India must be fully engaged with the rest of Asia allowing its voice to be heard and at the same time, fostering closer partnerships and understanding with other Asian countries."

The Asia Business Council is headquartered in Hong Kong and its 43 CEO-level members are drawn from companies based in countries including Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, US and Europe.
