December 27, 2005 16:53 IST

State-run Mahanagar Telephone Nigam on Tuesday joined the bandwagon of telecom companies offering lifetime validity on prepaid mobile cards, with the launch of  - MTNL Trump Jeevan Sathi.

The Jeevan Sathi card would be available for Rs 900 and promises life long validity, which means users would continue to receive incoming calls even if they do not recharge their cards.

"The card - MTNL Trump Jeevan Sathi - will have a talk value of Rs 100," MTNL executive director A K Arora told reporters in New Delhi.

The customer will have full talk time on the subsequent recharges.

The scheme is aimed at taking head on, the competition from Airtel and Hutch, which have launched similar plans on their networks. Earlier, Tata Indicom had offered two-year validity on its prepaid cards, triggering intense competition.
