MTNL eyeing Oman, Benin markets

After Mauritius and Kenya, Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Ltd is exploring overseas markets like Benin and Oman to expand its operations.

"We are currently exploring markets in Benin in the African continent and Oman for offering our telecom services," A K Girotra, ED, MTNL told newspersons.

He said that in Oman, the company is looking at the possibility of tying up with a local partner to offer services.

MTNL has a licence to offer telecom services in Kenya and currently its CMD R S P Sinha is in Kenya to finalise the terms and conditions of the service there, he said.

It recently bagged three licences in Mauritius for fixed, mobile, and international long distance services.

MTNL has set up a 100 per cent subsidiary in Mauritius under the name Mahanagar Telephone (Mauritius) Ltd.
