Despite its parent's decision to close the chat services in the country, Microsoft's online portal MSN India is expecting its current user base of 10 million to double in the next one year while charting plans to maintain the 100 per cent growth rate in revenue.

"In the last three years since our launch, we have acquired a user base base of 10 million and now we expect to double that in the next one year," Rajnish, head, marketing, MSN India told PTI.

In terms of revenue generation, we have grown by 100 per cent and we hope that with our new strategies of alliances and marketing will be able to maintain the growth, he said, adding that the business model was on track and would show profits in a few years.

"We are not impacted by the closure of MSN chat services in India as it was a global decision and moreover MSN Instant Messenger had more users than the chat services," he said.

MSN India is banking heavily on its alliances with the entertainment vertical and mobile companies to drive the advertisement revenue.

"We have relationship with Hutch and will be shortly working with other mobile companies," Rajnish said and added that in entertainment, the portal would be aggressively working with both Bollywood and Hollywood producers, distributors to showcase the movies on its site before and after release, he said.

It has so far done promotions for five Hindi films.

MSN India is eyeing up to 15 per cent of its advertisement revenue from entertainment vertical, he said.
