Microsoft Corporation India has instituted 'Innovative Teachers Leadership' award for teachers under its India education program.

Ten winners of the award, under the aegis of Project Shiksha, would be chosen on the basis of their outstanding contribution towards the use of technology and classroom training, a Microsoft statement said on Wednesday.

Teachers who have completed training under the project in Uttaranchal and Andhra Pradesh and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti are eligible to contend for the awards, Microsoft Corporation India managing director Rajiv Kaul said.

The winners would be entitled to attend a three-day seminar in Singapore and be able to have an idea about the innovative practices adopted by the contemporaries across the region, he added.

Project Shiksha was launched by Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates during his India visit in 2002 to deliver software solutions, training and curriculum to teachers and students across the country.
