Mahindra and Mahindra is looking to set up a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu for manufacturing proposed multi-utility vehicle Ingenio.
A high-level company delegation, including Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra, M&M President Pawan Goenka and Executive Director Arun Nanda, are in Chennai to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, sources said.
The Maharashtra-headquarted company could be looking to set up a plant for manufacturing Ingenio, which is scheduled for launch in 2008.
Mahindra manufactures its flagship Scorpio at Nasik, where it will also manufacture no-frills sedan Logan in partnership with Renault.
Shares of Mahindra opened at Rs 549.6 at the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday and were trading at Rs 573.3 in late afternoon tradeĀ in a strong market.
