Now, software to predict disasters

Micro Technologies India Ltd on Tuesday said it has launched a global disaster reduction IT product, which instantaneously sends alerts about the occurrence of any natural or man made disasters.

The product named Micro GBB (Global Black Box) was launched at the world conference on disaster reduction, which was co-sponsored by United Nations, World Bank, Micro Technologies informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Micro GBB transmits instant messages on mobile, e-mail or landline of the user or group of concerned users, upon the happening of a disaster.

It captures specialised and validated information, which could be useful for search and rescue operations, early warning, remote sensing, disaster mitigation, trauma management, it said.

This device promptly warns the users upon the happening of floods or storms, earthquake, landslides, riots, change in temperature, intrusion, fire, gas leak, power failure, theft, it added.

Micro GBB contains sensors or devices which detects the location, magnitude and the direction where the disaster is headed, it added.
