MCC has made an initial investment of Rs 67 crore (Rs 670 million) in the Hyderabad centre, which would sell over 18,000 products catering to the city's business establishments like hotels, restaurants, retailers and other traders.
"We are keen to expand across the country and the launch of the Hyderabad centre marks our commitment toward growing our presence in India." Harsh Bahadur, managing director, MCC said.
The company, which works with farmers to locate markets for their produce in urban centres, would open more such centres in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Vizag, Bahadur said.
"We received tremendous response from sheep farmers during the recently concluded sheep farmer training programme and this has been very encouraging," he added.
Earlier, inaugurating the Centre, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy appreciated the company's efforts to train farmers and create employment in rural and urban areas of the state.
Reddy asked the company's management to promote agri-products grown in the state in domestic and international markets.
