Mumbai, Bangalore get nod for metro rail

The Cabinet has cleared the proposal for metro rail in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore, Union Minister for Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said on Friday.

Addressing a Federation of India Chamber of Commerce and Industry meet in Hyderabad, he said, "The cabinet has cleared the proposals for these three states on the basis of a group of ministers' recommendation that every state government can decide about the gauge to be adopted for the metro rail project".

"Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai can start their metro rail projects right away," he added.
