Max Healthcare Ltd said on Thursday it would invest Rs 250 crore (Rs 2.5 billion) in the next three years on expansion to take the total bed capacity to 1,500.
"Between 2006 and 2009, the plan is to spread our presence beyond the NCR and have presence with one hospital each in North and West India. We may invest about Rs 250 crore in not only going beyond the NCR but also complete three hospital units in the NCR," Max Healthcare Chairman Analjit Singh told reporters in New Delhi.
He said the company was open to managing hospitals or acquisition as a part of the strategy apart from completing its hospital projects at three locations in the NCR, including one in Gurgaon.
"Those (managing or acquiring hospitals) are options and we may excercise if we consider them favourable," he said.
"When we complete the next phase of expansion by 2009, we would have a total bed capacity of 1,500," he said adding the curent capacity was 600 beds.
On Thursday, the company opened a 200-bed Super Speciality Hospital in South Delhi, its sixth facility, offering 33 specialities and four super speciality facilities.
