Shagun: India's 1st wedding mall

India's first wedding mall providing everything needed for the ceremony opened in Kolkata on Thursday.

Named 'Shagun', the wedding mall located on the upmarket Shakespeare Sarani, sells wedding accessories, gifts as well as trousseaus.

Touted as a new lifestyle destination, the mall had been designed to give a hassle-free experience to the customers.

Director of the mall Jaydeep Khaitan told reporters in Kolkata that the focus would be on bridal wear and bridal furnishings.

He said that studies carried out revealed that average middle class people were spending around Rs 20 lakh (Rs 2 million) at a wedding, adding that it was not targetted at the elite only.

The mall would have collections of lehenga chunnis, embroidery sarees and suit dupattas.

The mall is spread over an area of 20,000 square feet across five levels.
