Malaysia woos Indian tourists

Tourism Malaysia has tied up with Singapore Airlines to offer summer travel packages to the Indian tourists.

The new package will cost Rs 23,999 and include two nights in Kuala Lumpur and two nights at Penang.

The package, named Malaysian Summer Dhamaka, will include airfare, seat in coach basis airport transfers, bus transfer between Kaula Lumpur and Penang, and sight seeing in both the locations. And, there is a Rs 1,000 discount on traveling from Kolkata.

The summer package will be valid till 30 June, 2004 and will be available from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. Tourism Malaysia has also joined hands with travel agencies like SOTC, Cox&Kings, Thomas Cook, Travel Corporation and JTB Travels.

"By launching the package with Singapore Airlines, we are assuring the Indian travelers a wider option to select from," said P Manoharan, director, Tourism Malaysia.

Tourism Malaysia expects that latest initiatives will help it achieve a minimum growth of 20 per cent. "Till date we have been working with the travel agencies on an individual basis.
