All industry bodies including CII, FICCI, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and others should come to a common platform in order to leverage power of ideas for economic development, he added at a national summit hosted by Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management organised in New Delhi.
Mahindra, former president of CII, said all the industry bodies should spell out their agenda for development on school education, healthcare, rural poverty and urban renewal and then prepare a master plan of action with the government.
India must keep trying to achieve faster growth and sustainable growth in order to benefit the masses, he added. On the theme of the summit 'Sustainable Corporate Growth and Social Equity', he pointed towards a growing convergence of the profit and social equity in the economy.
Citing M&M's three-wheeler project 'Bijlee', he said the project aims at providing cutting edge environment-friendly technology to the rural masses. M&M aims at profit by promoting entrepreneurship in rural areas through franchise model, he said.
"Social responsibility of the corporates is not against profitability". Anil Shastri, Chairman of Board of Governors LBSIM, said there could not be any kind of growth without ensuring social equity.
