L&T bags Rs 800cr contract from Reliance

Construction and Engineering major Larsen and Toubro Ltd  said on Monday it has bagged Rs 800-crore (Rs 8 billion) contract from Reliance Industries Ltd for construction services and supply of electrical systems for its SEZ refinery and petrochemical project in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The construction division of L&T, ECC, would undertake critical civil, mechanical and electrical works for the 29 million tonnes per year refinery and petrochemical complex, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The electrical and electronics division of the company would supply over 325 high-end switchboards equipped with intelligent relays.

The equipment conforms to the high quality standards and stringent specifications of Bechtel, UK-- project consultants for the refinery and petrochemical plant, it said.

ECC had earlier executed several projects at Patalganga, Maharashtra and also at Reliance's Hazira Petro Chemical complex and supplied electrical systems to Phase-I of the Jamnagar Refinery Project, it added.

The company's share was trading at Rs 2,745, up 1.44 per cent at the BSE.
