Salora Group to create 5,000 jobs

September 05, 2008 17:14 IST

The domestic consumer goods major Salora Group will create 5,000 jobs in the country and plans to open around 300-500 digital retail outlets over the next five years.

"We have plans to hire more than five thousand people over the next five years, as we have decided to expand our presence all over the country", Salora Retail Ventures CEO Sanjive Sethi said.

The $250-million group recently announced its foray into the multi-brand digital retail segment, with an investment of around Rs 200 crore (Rs 2 billion). The investment would be made by the group's retail arm, Salora Retail Ventures Ltd.

"We are tying up with the business schools, who are offering retail management courses, for the campus interviews.

We want to assure the students of jobs, at the time of their joining the course. We don't need the toppers, as we are confident of our in-house training process," Sethi added.

Hence, not only the management pass-outs, but the freshers are also welcome by the group. "We would like to hire the fresh talent and train them according to our organisational culture," Salora Group Vice-President and Managing Director Gopal Jiwarajka said.

The company already has opened nine stores in the national capital under the brand 'Terminal', with a total of 35 all over the country.
