"The job cuts and a focus on more outsourcing overseas are part of the company's new 110 million pounds restructuring programme," Andy Green, chief executive said.
Green said: "I am confident that this plan will allow us to outperform the market and revitalise Logica, delivering sustained value for shareholders, customers and employees."
Logica-- an IT and consultancy firm -- already has a significant presence in India and has an overall staff strength of 39,000.
Green said that the company will also be adding around 4,000 jobs in India, the Philippines and Morocco. It currently employs around 5,500 people in the UK.
The company would meet an earlier forecast of three per cent revenue growth in 2008, below the rest of the market, Green said, hoping that next year it would be much higher.
"The year 2008 is of consolidation - this takes time. We are a couple of points below the market this year, we will be a couple of points above next year," he said.
