"Indian employers are forecasting a strong hiring plans and territories surveyed this quarter. It is reflective of the incremental growth visible across sectors in the country over the past year," Soumen Basu, chairman, Manpower India said on Tuesday.
Of the 25 countries and territories surveyed globally this quarter, the outlook is strongest in India with an overall net employment outlook of 43 per cent followed by Hong
Kong and Japan with 27 and 24 per cent respectively, he said after releasing Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for the third quarter this year.
Hiring sentiments are very positive across all industries with five out of the seven sectors revealing an increase in hiring activity as compared to the previous quarter, he said.
"Services sector employers are the most optimistic with a bullish Net Employment Outlook of 50 per cent closely followed by mining and construction at 49 per cent," he said.
The transport and utilities sector has seen a fall of nine percentage points from the previous quarter, reporting an outlook of 37 (positive) per cent," he said.
Forty-six per cent of the 4,550 employers surveyed said that they expect their staffing levels to increase, while three per cent expected a decrease in their staffing levels.
Forty-one per cent expected no change and remaining 10 per cent were unsure of hiring plans, Basu said. On the margin of error in the survey, Basu said: "it is below (+, - ) 2 per cent."
The hiring trends amongst employers look bright in all four regions, those in the North are the most optimistic with a Net Employment Outlook at 49 per cent, followed closely by East and South at 42 per cent, he said.
West has reported a two percentage point increase in the NEO quarter-over-quarter but remains comparatively weaker at 41 per cent, he said. When asked about the number of people that are expected to be employed in various sectors, he said: "We do not attach any figure to the Outlook."
The survey, which is based on interviews with nearly 50,000 public and private employers worldwide, has been running for over 40 years, he said adding it has been received well from the industry and the government within the country.
