March 16, 2004 16:52 IST

Infineon Technologies India Pvt Ltd has plans to double the headcount at its Bangalore centre to about 400 this year, a top company executive said in Bangalore on Tuesday.

The Bangalore centre's core activities relate to software development for wireless technologies, protocols, signal processing, security applications, broadband modem and industrial process automation, among others.

Infineon Technologies was working with two or three partners in the country, its managing director Thomas Simonis told reporters but declined to name them.

The company was interested in long term partnership and assessing the potential partners, he said.

Eighty per cent of the existing 200 employees were working on software development, 15 per cent on tools and five per cent on hardware, he said.

The Munich-headquartered Infineon Technologies AG is the world's sixth largest semiconductor manufacturer with revenues of euro 6.15 billion for the fiscal ended September 2002.
