Buoyed by a significant increase in offshore business, IT company Birlasoft on Tuesday announced ramping up of its India operations and increasing its headcount by 400 by August this year.
"There has been a significant increase in our offshore work. Birlasoft has been doing extremely well in the market and its continuous expansion in the IT sector has led to an increased requirement for software professionals," Birlasoft COO Kamal Mansharamani said in a statement.
The New Jersey-based company had earlier announced its plan to recruit about 850 software professionals by March 2005.
Birlasoft also plans to inaugurate its third development centre at Noida this month, where the company already has a centre.
The company plans to invest $6 million in the new centre at Noida with a capacity of 750 people.
Birlasoft's global staff strength currently stood at 1,800 of which 1,200 are in India.
