Speedera to hire 40 more in India

September 09, 2004 18:02 IST

American IT firm Speedera Networks said on Thursday that it was gearing up to double its workforce of 40 professionals at its Bangalore development centre.

Speedera, an 'on-demand distributed application hosting and content delivery services firm' which set up its operations in 2000, said Internet service provider Videsh Sanchar Nigam had become its channel partner and would deploy its technology in its data centres, besides marketing Speedsuite to VSNL customers in the country.

"We have 40 people in India and are ready to double our headcount as soon as possible," Speedera Networks President and CEO Ajit Gupta told reporters.

The firm, which ended its financial year in June, reported $22 million in revenues for 2004, and is aiming to achieve a turnover of $30 million by June 2005.

Speedera's Indian clients include Times of India, Rediff, NDTV, Sify, Wipro, Wisden, Cricinfo and Fabmall, he said.

"As for India, it has a two-pronged advantage for us. First, it's a potentially huge, untapped market for us. Second, it's part of our follow-the-sun model, which allows us to offer sales and customer service across the globe," Speedera India managing director Abhay Dubey said.
